Millers wait on Arnason Rotherham are sweating on the fitness of Iceland international Kari Arnason for the visit of Torquay.
The 29-year-old, who scored for his country in their 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Norway on Friday, picked up an ankle injury in that game and will be given until Saturday lunchtime to prove his fitness.
Millers boss Steve Evans, who starts a six-match stadium ban after being found guilty of using abusive and insulting words and behaviour with a reference to gender by the Football Association, will still pick the team and will make changes following last week's 6-2 thumping at Port Vale.
If Arnason is fit, he should come back into central defence, allowing Johnny Mullins to move over to the right, although Craig Morgan will fancy a start after he came on at half-time of the defeat at Vale Park with the Millers already 4-1 down. Elsewhere fit-again defender Dale Tonge will hope to start, with Evans unlikely to tinker too much with his midfield or attack. Assistant manager Paul Raynor will take the reins at New York, with Evans, who is hoping to watch live streaming of the game, only able to keep in touch via phone. Torquay boss Martin Ling could welcome Craig Easton back. The midfielder has been absent with a groin strain recently but is expected to fit for the visit to South Yorkshire.
Lloyd Macklin has resumed training following a knee injury but the weekend is likely to come too soon for the winger. Saul Halpin will know after another week's work whether he will escape surgery for a crack in an ankle bone. Scans have revealed the fracture, but if it continues to mend under progressive exercise, Halpin could avoid having an operation to pin it.
Ling has warned striker Rene Howe that he could spoil his flying start to the season if he fails to improve his disciplinary record. Howe has scored three times in the Gulls' first five matches, but he's also received yellow cards in the last three matches and is only two away from an automatic one-game ban.
