Ward a doubt for Millers

Rotherham boss Steve Evans could pick from an unchanged squad as his side chase their first points of the Sky Bet Championship season when Preston visit.

The Millers lost their second successive game when going down 2-1 at Nottingham Forest on Saturday, though Evans was enthused by the performance and could name a similar side.

Evans has already confirmed Kelle Roos will start in goal, despite another error at the City Ground adding to his nightmare debut against MK Dons last week.

The Millers will assess left-back Joe Mattock to see whether he can manage two games in four days while winger Danny Ward is doubtful. He took a knock after stepping off the bench against Forest.

Paul Gallagher is a doubt for Preston after coming off at the weekend.

The forward withdrew with a slight groin injury having bagged the winner against MK Dons on Saturday - and he will remain a doubt to feature at a stadium he scored in the last time these two teams met in the play-offs in 2014.

Boss Simon Grayson is already without Jordan Hugill, who is suspended following his red card in Milton Keynes, while fellow striker Jermaine Beckford is still yet to feature this term following a pre-season knock.

Chris Humphrey will be expected to slot in on the right flank again if Marnick Vermijl fails to overcome the problem which forced him to sit out at the weekend.
