Sharps may get nod for Millers

Rotherham boss Steve Evans could be tempted to welcome captain Ian Sharps back to the fold when Accrington head to the New York Stadium.

Sharps was left on the substitutes' bench despite returning from suspension as the Millers crashed to a 2-1 defeat against Port Vale.

Evans' side are now without a home win in their last four outings and assistant manager Paul Raynor admitted they were disappointed by the loss to fellow promotion hopefuls Vale.

As a result, left-back Liam Ridehalgh, another unused replacement against Micky Adams' men, could also be welcomed back into the starting XI.

Craig Morgan, Lionel Ainsworth, Dale Tonge and David Noble are all out until the new year.

Evans revealed both Tonge and Noble are expected to play 90 minutes in an outing for the reserves on January 2.

Accrington boss Leam Richardson will be without the services of Dean Winnard.

The defender received a second yellow card in their Boxing Day defeat at Bradford and will serve a one-match ban.

Also suspended is goalkeeper Paul Rachubka after the FA rejected an appeal against his late dismissal in the 1-1 draw with Plymouth last weekend.

On-loan Leeds man Rachubka must now start a three-match ban and, with regular number one Ian Dunbavin sidelined for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury, youth team keeper Andrew Dawber could be poised for a first league start.

Marcus Carver is pushing for a start having replaced Lee Molyneux at half-time against Bradford, where defeat left Richardson's side without a win in their last eight matches in all competitions - losing four of the last five.
