Rotherham have taken experienced Lloyd Doyley on trial.

The 33-year-old defender has been without a club since leaving Watford last summer but is trying to earn a deal with the Championship strugglers and played 90 minutes in their reserve clash with Scunthorpe on Wednesday.

Doyley - a one-club man having featured just under 450 times for the Hornets - will be assessed by Millers boss Neil Warnock next week before deciding whether to offer him a contract.

Warnock said: "He's come up to be with us for a while. He came to QPR when I was there and he's a good pro and we'll have another look at him.

"I think he's just lacking a little bit of match fitness at the minute but we'll see him this week in training."

If Doyley earns a deal at the New York Stadium he will become the fifth experienced free agent to sign a short-term deal for the club this season following Leon Best, Stephen Kelly, Luciano Becchio and Jerome Thomas into the Millers dressing room.
