Rotherham 1-0 Accrington Stanley: Match Report

Millers on the march

Rotherham beat Accrington 1-0 to record their second win in five days and maintain their hopes of an npower League Two play-off place.

Most of the first half action came from the home side, who probably considered themselves unfortunate to be only a goal up at the break - and that came from the penalty spot.

After seven minutes Alex Revell headed a good chance wide, Sam Wood had an effort bravely blocked by Danny Coid and Ian Dunbavin made two saves in quick succession to deny Kieron Cadogan and then Wood on the follow up.

But when Mark Bradley broke into the box after 27 minutes he was halted by a lunging tackle from Accrington midfielder Bryan Hughes. Shaun Harrad stepped up to net his second goal in as many games since joining the Millers on loan from Bury.

Stanley could have had an equaliser from their first corner after 53 minutes, but Coid skied his shot high over the bar.

Harrad should have had a second for Rotherham after 65 minutes with a free header from Cadogan's cross but Dunbavin saved with his feet.
