With Evans feeling ill and ordered to rest, Raynor explained to the clubs official website that the levels of training have stepped up.
"Last week was about assessing the lads and easing them in, whereas we've stepped it up now and we're doing a lot of ball work. It's getting tougher and more intense, but so far there have been some very good performances.
"There's a very good camaraderie from the squad, they're getting to know each other and there's the usual banter flying about. The only disappointment was that the gaffer had to leave prematurely as he's not been feeling up to scratch.
"He's seen the doctor, he's going to take some time off and hopefully he'll be available for the Parkgate game at the weekend."
The opening pre-season match at Roundwood will now kick off at noon.
