The 22 year-old midfielder was the stand out pre-season performer after his move from Derby last summer, but after a few appearances early season, found life difficult breaking into the side regularly.
And Pringle explains that he's found it tough going after making his first start in five months on Tuesday night against Crewe.
He told Advertiser: “I was at Derby before and thought I did quite well there and never got the chance I should have done. That was the reason I signed for Rotherham, to play every week, and for whatever reason that didn't happen.
“I didn't know where I was going or what was going on and that was the last thing I wanted. Pretty much everything that could go wrong did go wrong with this move. I felt I never got a chance to play and for whatever reason I didn't. I've been through worst things in my life, but it hasn't been easy not playing and not being in the squad and having weekends off when you don't really want them. You want to be involved all the time.”
Pringle explained: “After making a good impression as sub on Saturday (at Barnet), the last thing I wanted to do was to come in on Tuesday and not play as well, so I was really determined to keep my game up as high as I could. I was happy with my performance and I don't think anyone would have begrudged us a victory. We battered them in the second half and the stats will show that. What I'm looking forward to doing now is playing. It has been very frustrating but there are 12 games left and if I keep playing the way I am hopefully they will be looking to put me in for the next game as well.”
Boss Scott added: “As a young lad who comes from a bigger club, you can come and think you can change the world on your own sometimes, but you can't. You need another ten bodies on the pitch to help you out.
“Ben is relatively young in terms of league games he has played. It's a new level for him. He's got fitter and mentally stronger. For a young lad, he's been through a lot of things in his life. Sometimes you can underestimate those things and to come back and get in the side is credit to him.
“He has taken on board what he needed to do to get into the side. He didn't believe it at first but then he grasped it and he has got his rewards. If we can make Ben Pringle a permanent fixture in the side then no-one will be happier than me because I signed him and I knew he had that ability."
