Pitch no fault of the Club - Moore
The number of games being played on the pitch is no help feels Moore. Monday's game against Shrewsbury at the Don Valley looked for a time that it might be called off. An appeal by the club for volunteers to clear the pitch of snow was answered by a number of supporters, enabling the game which was on Sky to go ahead. With Rugby, amateur football and the Millers playing their first team and reserve fixtures at the stadium the pitch gets no time to recover. Millers boss Ronnie Moore gave his views on the situation to the Advertiser this week saying: "The good side isn't good now," "It might look alright from the stands but it's quite heavy. "All this has got nothing to do with our groundsman. "Up to the Torquay game (on the Friday) there had been four games on it since we were last there and we don't have a say on anything that happens— we are just the tenants. It's the landlords who dictate what happens. "Even trying to put the pitch right is no good to us because if we do that then others come and play on it."The pitch has to an extent robbed the Millers of home advantage, in Moore's opinion: "It's obvious to everybody that the team which has to defend the poor half is under pressure," he said. "Playing towards the best half, you need to pass it but what we've been doing is lumping everything long and high. "When we get out of the crap area and onto the better midfield surface, that's when we need someone who can get their foot on the ball.
