Midfielder Michael O'Connor has today signed a pre-contract to join the Millers on July 1st from Scunthorpe United.

The 24 year old from Northern Ireland joins the Millers on a 2 year deal after being released by Scunny.

Despite making 36 appearances for the League One side last season former Millers boss Alan Knill released the midfielder who scored twice.

Speaking to themillers.co.uk Michael said the decision to join the Millers was an easy one; "I spoke to Steve Evans, met up with him on Wednesday, and within 10 minutes I'd made my mind up,"

"It's a stepping down a league coming to League Two, but it wasn't a tough decision because everyone I spoke to about the club said it was going places." he added

As usual, boss Steve Evans thanked the clubs Chairman and operating officer for their work bringing in another signing; "It has been an exhaustive day but we are delighted to get the deal done. I would like to thank the Chairman and Paul Douglas for their perseverance in getting this deal done, and I will give my reaction tomorrow when my head clears after what was a pulsating day."

All at MillersMAD wish Michael all the best.
