Nards hoping for a first automatic promotion

After being promoted twice in his career via the play-offs, Daniel Nardiello wants an automatic spot this time around and also praises fellow striker Alex Revell.

Speaking to the Advertiser this week, he said: “I've had a couple of promotions in my career so it is nothing new to me but it would be nice to go up automatically rather than through the play-offs because it is something I have never done.

“I got promoted from League One to the Championship with Barnsley. That was a great experience, beating Swansea in the final at the Millennium Stadium and I managed to score. The other one was with Blackpool to the Premier League. I only made a handful of appearances but it was still nice to be around when they won at Wembley to go up. I left at the end of that season but it was a good way to end.

“I don't want to go that way this time and we're not particularly bothered about a play-off pay day. We want to get in that top three, secure our place in League One for next season and have a bit more time off in the summer; that would be nice.”

He added: “I enjoyed it the other night at Wycombe when the gaffer put me up front. I really enjoy playing there with the crosses that Liam Ridehalgh and Ben Pringle put in the box. I fancy my chances of getting a few goals.

“I also quite fancy myself in the air given the opportunity one v one. I've scored a few headers this year so I like it when crosses come in and Alex Revell is fantastic to work off. He's one of the best in the league for doing what he does.

“For starts up front, I'm only just into double figures so I believe if I play up front then I'll score goals.”
