Mullins pleased to be back

Defender Johnny Mullins speaks about his return to fitness and he could be pressed back into action tomorrow at Port Vale.

"I'm pleased to be back, despite the defeat last week (to Southend), because its been a difficult time." said Johnny in todays Advertiser.

The 25 year-old has been missing six months with cruciate knee ligament damage and made his return in the 4-0 drubbing, playing the final 20 minutes.

"The result on Saturday was disappointing and not what we wanted. The Manager and Darren Patterson told us what they think and the players are very hurt and disappointed to lose because we consider that we are better than them", he continued.

"We don't want this feeling in the dressing room again after a game so hopefully, it will be a bit of a wake-up call for the team because we`ve dropped our standards recently and you can`t afford to do that in this league."

Boss Andy Scott is hesitant to rush Mullins back too quickly after his absence, but having proved his fitness he may be thrown into the starting eleven at Vale Park with captain Ryan Cresswell out injured.

Johnny added; "The aim is to try and get back as fit as I can and push myself back into the manager`s thoughts. I want to come back in and be part of a successful side."
