The 27 year-old left sided player joins after finding himself out of contract at Preston and was previously a member of the Posh side that rose from League Two straight into the Championship. He has also won promotion with MK Dons.

''The lad is comfortable in central defence and at left back, something I have been looking at for several weeks. At Peterborough United he was simply outstanding and was the reason why Darren Ferguson got Preston North End to pay £400,000 for him. ''He is very comfortable on the ball and is a real competitor.
