Rotherham manager Steve Evans kept to his word and arrived to his side's curtain-closing Sky Bet Championship game at Leeds in a shorts, t-shirt, flip-flops and a sombrero.
The Scot promised Millers fans he would don his beach attire if they guaranteed their safety in the second tier, an achievement they made sure of by beating Reading on Tuesday, despite a three-point deduction from the Football League for fielding an ineligible player.
The public clamour for Evans, who delivered back-to-back promotions to the club before delivering survival, to go through with his pledge was huge, with over 10,000 tweets posted with the #sombreroforsteve hashtag.
And Evans duly obliged by exiting the Millers' team coach at Elland Road wearing shorts, t-shirt, flip-flops, sunglasses and his sombrero.
The 52-year-old has promised he will be dressed "impeccably" for kick-off as the West Yorkshire side hold a minute's applause for fans who have died throughout the season.
However, he is likely to don the Mexican headwear towards the end of the game, with neither side having anything left to play for.
