Lack of strikers leaves us shallow - Moore.

26 July 2010 11:29
After Saturdays 2-0 defeat to local neighbours Sheffield United, boss Ronnie Moore bemoans his squads lack of strikers. Speaking to the Star, Moore looked back on Saturdays game against the Blades and said; "We knew it would be a more physical type of game than the one in midweek against Leicester but it was a good workout, was the second stiff test in a few days and pushes us towards the goal of being sharp come Lincoln here on August 7" "We coped ok in the first half and Alf has nearly scored but then how many shots and chances did we have? That's why we need to get strikers on board.""But, to be honest, we're a million miles away from getting someone in and it's not looking likely. You're not going to get someone with a proven scoring record to come in at this stage. We'll just have to keep trying." Loanee striker, Tom Elliott sat out the game after picking up a niggle as a precaution, leaving Moore to say; "it showed how shallow we are," Elliott could return for tomorrow nights game at former Miller Nicky Law's Alfreton Town.
