It's been a tough week - Mulls

Johnny Mullins tells todays Star that it's been a tough week since the sacking of former boss Andy Scott

Scott was fired last week after 11 months in charge of the Millers, in which time defender Mullins has come back from serious injury. Speaking in the Star, the skipper praised Scott and also caretaker boss Darren Patterson and his backroom team.

"We all know about the ups and downs of football and when things like that happen you have to pick yourself up. The gaffer was really good with me personally after I’d come back from the knee injury and it was a bitter pill to swallow.

“He did a lot for me while he had been here as he did for a lot of the players in that dressing room as well and there’s no hiding that last week was a difficult week.

“But Darren Patterson and the staff have been brilliant with us. They kept our heads up, we got that win over Macclesfield but we were all really disappointed that we’d nothing to show for our efforts against Crawley.

"Certainly the first half at Crawley was the best we’ve played for 40 to 45 minutes. When they got that late goal in the first hald it was so hard to swallow. We can all talk about missed opportunities in that first half but we as defenders can’t grumble at that because we’ve not kept a clean sheet.

“We know how well we did in the first half and we were by far the better team. We have to take all that into the home game with Hereford next Saturday against Hereford,” added Mullins.
