I'm Gutted - Harrison

Danny Harrison tells todays Star that he's gutted to have been released, but not suprised.

The midfielder made 45 appearances for the Millers last season, but fids himself looking for a new club after being released by new gaffer Steve Evans.

Talking to the Star Harrison said; “I barely featured under Steve so it didn’t come as a complete surprise, Reading between the lines, he has got an awful lot to spend next season so I wasn’t really expecting anything."

“I am gutted to be leaving but that’s the way football works. It is disappointing because I would have liked to have played at the new ground but I can’t dwell on it too much. It is the nature of football. Players come and players go. It is my turn to move on. It is disappointing but it is an exciting time as well finding out what’s going to be the next chapter in my career.”

Danny looked back at his 5 year stint with the Millers; “It has been a rollercoaster ride at Rotherham. It has not been a straightforward five years. The administration period will go down as one of the low points. It hit everybody hard. Even with the 10 points we had taken off, we were still only a couple of points off the play-offs and we might have made automatic that season.

“Playing at Wembley was a high as well as a low at the same time as we lost. Obviously, I would have liked things to have been a bit different with promotions and things like that but that’s how it goes sometimes.”

Despite being released, the 29 year old is aiming to move up the league; “My agent will be making a few phone calls over the next couple of weeks trying to sort things out, I feel like I have got a lot to offer another club."

“I still feel I can do a job in League One. I’ve played over 150 games at that level so I would back myself in that division or in League Two. It is just what is out there.” he added
