I can't question the lads desire - Evans

After picking up 4 points from their first 3 matches boss Steve Evans says he cannot fault his players commitment.

Evans spoke to the Advertiser ahead of tomorrows game with Bradford City.

He explained: “Out of the three games we've played so far, Burton at home and Northampton and Chesterfield away - I cannot question our desire.

"Every game is going to be a big game for us and it is a credit to Chesterfield and to John Sheridan that they gave it their best. It was a really competitive derby but I thought they were fortunate to get a point.

“It was my first taste of a Chesterfield Rotherham derby and I want to pay tribute to the fans who travelled in good numbers. We all know what happened a couple of years ago and we reminded the players. We had the worst possible start, especially after the kick we got at Northampton. I thought we regrouped and dominated in spells and in the second half there was one team trying to win and the other trying to hit on the break.

“I told the players in pre-season that teams would try to play like that against us and we need to be good enough to deal with it. The best chance fell to one of the most talented boys on the pitch in Ben Pringle and he should have stuck it in. There was one bench shouting for the final whistle and one wanting another five minutes and that was us.”
