Long serving defender Dale Tonge its itching to get back in the matchday squad after missing the opening part of the season to injury

The 27 year old missed the last part of last season after damaging an Achilles, but is now looking to get back in the team and taste the atmosphere at New York before long after making his return to action in Wednesday nights reserve defeat at Gateshead.

“I’ve been through plenty of things at this club: not getting paid, administration, Millmoor and then Don Valley and then I was injured before we came to the New York Stadium. While I’ve been out I’ve been to every game and I haven’t kicked a ball yet. It’s the most frustrating time I’ve ever had." He told the 'Tiser

“The Achilles has been a problem for quite a while. I did it at the end of last season and I recovered but in pre-season it flared up again. Hopefully I’m on the road to recovery now so it’s a case of getting back into it now, getting a few games under my belt and then challenging for the first team. I can’t wait to play at the new ground."

“I’ve been patient and have done everything Denis Circuit has told me to do so hopefully the problems are now all behind me.”

Tongey looked back at the Gatehead trip and joked; “It’s not the best of places to go and I can honestly tell you that I was the only person at the club looking forward to making the trip!”
