The former Millers chairman Ken Booth has died aged 91.

Ken Booth snr died on Monday night the Advertiser reports.

He saved the club back in 1987 and was chairman for 17 years until 2004 when he sold the club to Millers05 group and took ownership of the Millmoor ground and Hooton Lodge in exchange for writing off the £3 million debt.

Millers05 had a peppercorn rent until relations soured when the club entered administration in 2006. When Denis Coleman and associates took the reins of the club, they found the rent on Millmoor much higher and this led to the club entering administration again in March 2008.

The Millers left Millmoor when now chairman Tony Stewart saved the club but was unable to do a deal with the Booth family to keep the Millers playing at Millmoor, and left to play 4 seasons at Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield.

The Millers new home faces the Booths scrapyard in New York, where the flags are flying at half mast in respect of Ken Senior.
