31 year old center back Nick Fenton is gutted to have been release by the Millers after virtually agreeing a new deal. Speaking to the Star, Fenton told of his upset at not getting a new deal;   “I am gutted because I had virtually agreed a new deal before Ronnie Moore was sacked and then when he left it got put on hold until the end of the season." “I am disappointed as I wanted to stay but I understand it from Andy’s point of view. He wants to clear the decks and get his own players in so I have to accept it. “I knew as soon as Ronnie got sacked and we got in a new manager with three weeks to go that it was going to be difficult. But that’s football. I have been around long enough to know how it works.” Fenton looked back at his time with the Millers and picked out his highlights; “The Johnstone Paint Trophy run in my first year was brilliant and it was nice to score against Leeds. It was great to play in the Play-Off Final last season. It was just a shame it ended in defeat.” “I am only 31 so I’ve still got a few years left in me yet so hopefully a club will take a chance on me, My agent is speaking to a number of clubs at the moment." “It is not an ideal situation for me because I have got a young family to support. A lot of clubs have released players so I am in the same boat as 600 to 700 other professionals but I’m fairly confident that I will get something.”
