Fans will enjoy Kearns ability - Evans

After capturing winger Danny Kearns from Peterborough today, boss Steve Evans says the supporters will enjoy his wide play.

The 21 year-old has signed until the end of the season with a view to a permanent summer move after playing 12 games at York City this campaign, and the gaffer was pleased to have finally got his long term target on board.

"I’m delighted that after a number of attempts I have secured the signature of young Daniel Kearns to join the Millers initially on loan until the end of the season with a view to making it a permanent transfer in the summer,” said Evans to themillers.co.uk.

“Back in 2011 I tried to convince the boy to sign for my previous club, but at that time he decided to sign for Peterborough United. He has developed under Darren Ferguson and the Republic of Ireland Under 21 international is a real capture for us.

“Daniel will train with the squad tomorrow and will make his debut at some stage on Saturday when an in-form Barnet are the visitors to New York Stadium.

“Our supporters will enjoy watching this young man; his ability to take on defenders and deliver a telling pass will become obvious to all."

Kearns was on a number of clubs radars, including Bradford City and a League One side.

Meanwhile the paperwork to extend Liam Ridehalgh's stay until the end of the season should go through tomorrow, but Jack O'Connell will remain with parent club Blackburn after his loan expired last weekend.

Courtney Cameron has penned an initial months extension with a view to making his deal from Aston Villa a longer one.
