Despite his hard work winning Alex Revell many fans, boss Steve Evans wants Rev's to score more goals, and say's he'll get better!

6 goals in 46 games isnt a fantastic return, but the work that Alex Revell put in over the course of last season won him plenty of fans.

However, 3 goals in pre-season already is a sign that the work done with boss Steve Evans is paying off, with the Scotsman wanting the 30 year olds name on the scoresheet more often.

Speaking in the Advertiser, Evans said; “I wouldn't have given him a two-year contract at the end of last season if I didn't think he would be a real handful in League One."

“This football club could have taken the money for Alex many times but I had a real belief when I came that he was one of the players I wanted to work with, along with Ben Pringle, and he put in a real shift on Tuesday.”

“Alex Revell will get better and we have started to work on his movement and ball retention and getting in the box. He was unlucky not to get two or three (against Bolton). Before, he had a tendency to want to link the play in the second and third phase and that's why his goals ratio was poor. On Tuesday, all bar the one occasion, his link play was good and he has laid the ball off and made his way in between the sticks and if you do that here we have got plenty of talent in our squad to make sure the ball goes in there." he added.
