Evans asks for trust as duo are released

Boss Steve Evans says the fans need to trust his judgement as Marcus Marshall and Ollie Banks leave the club.

Marshall returned from his loan at Macclesfield to find out he was no longer part of the managers plans yesterday, with teenager Banks also shown the door.

Evans told Millersplayer: "Marcus will move on, there might be some supporters asking why. He hasn't had a lot of game time; he has been on loan at Macclesfield where we have had him assessed, so the supporters have to trust us on who we are going to bring in. He is a young man who has conducted himself great, we had the chance to have a real close look at him and we've made our decision and he moves on with our best wishes."

The gaffer added: "We have to give Rotherham United players who are contracted to the club a chance so Sam Wood and Kieron Cadogan have gone back, whilst Scott Griffiths is on stand-by but training with Darren Ferguson at Peterborough tomorrow. All three have gone back and we thank the lads for their service and we wish them every success."
