Ellison ready to work hard for his place

Kevin Ellison says he's ready to knuckle down and make sure he's part of Rotherham United's promotion amibitions. The left winger has found himself out of favour in recent times following the signing of Will Atkinson from Hull on loan and was also fighting off niggling injuries . But having played the last two matches from the start after Atkinson opted to move to Rochdale, Ellison says he;s ready to fight for his place. He told todays Advertiser: "The manager tried to sign Will until the end of the season and we were winning when he was here. I couldn't go banging on the door because we were playing well but now he has gone and we haven't had the best two results. "I'll have to work hard and try and stay in the team. It's up to me. The gaffer said the shirt is there for me and it's down to me to lose, but with a performance like Saturday's, I could lose it." Ellison added of the performance in last weeks loss to Southend: "If you give any team in this league a two-goal start it is never going to be easy. When the big teams come here we are up and firing but we can't put our finger on why we sometimes fall short against the lower clubs. It's not like we thought we could win the game easily, but you just can't give anyone a two-goal start, let alone Southend with some of the players they have got. "You can't pick anyone out who did well. The gaffer told us, and we knew as a team, that the first half was unacceptable. We were beaten fairly."The Millers go to Wycombe tomorrow looking to regain second spot from the hosts, and Kev concluded: "We're halfway through the season now and there's 23 games to go. They're not going to be easy but if we can start performing and getting the results we were getting upto a couple of weeks ago then we'll be fine. "I have got four goals so far so maybe I could sneak in with a few more. Alfie has dried up as well but we have to get goals from others other than him like we have been doing recently."Welcome to MillersMadHere's our LATEST Messageboard topics MillersMAD are proud sponsors of Miller Bear's home kit
