Don't fire Pope up urges Evans

Speaking to todays Star, the gaffer urges Millers fans to put thier efforts into supporting thier team at Boxing Day's sell out against Port Vale

Former Millers striker Tom Pope scored 4 against us in the fixture at Vale Park earlier this year, the first time he had faced his former team after spending a largely unsuccessful time at.

With the return fixture at New York Stadium expected to be a sell out on Boxing Day, boss Steve Evans wants the Millers fans shouting thier team onto 3 points, not dishing it out to Tom Pope, while the games on at least.

“It’s going to be a cracking atmosphere with the place full and this is what we’ve always wanted at the new ground”

“I want our fans getting right behind us, I don’t want them being bothered about Tom Pope coming back, it’s about supporting your team and I’m certain they’re going to do that." he told the Star
