Annerson hit by injury as trialist Smith departs

Goalkeeper Jamie Annerson has been sidelined with a knee problem whilst Jeff Smith won't be offered a contract by boss Andy Scott. Scott confirmed the news to the clubs official website earlier, meaning last years number one Andy Warrington will now be on the bench to face Oxford on Saturday. "Jamie has had a swollen knee and he's out for a considerable time. He's had an infection in the knee and has actually been in hospital. It's very unfortunate but the infection has attacked his knee and he's had to have it washed out," said the gaffer. Trialist Jeff Smith, who played in the Millers pre-season games, has now been told he won't be offered terms.  "We have told Jeff we are not in a position to offer him anything, I just feel he isn't the right type to suit us and we'll keep looking for cover down that left side", added Scotty.
