Ross County captain Paul Quinn: rivals envious of Chris Burke signing
Ross County captain Paul Quinn believes the vast majority of their Ladbrokes Premiership rivals will be jealous they have signed Chris Burke.
The 32-year-old former Scotland winger joined County this week, although he is unlikely to make his debut against St Johnstone on Saturday.
Quinn feels a large number of other teams would be happy to have his former Cardiff team-mate in their squad.
"He has settled in well and looked good in training," Quinn said. "He is not match fit but I'm sure he will get there soon and it just shows another step further from the club.
"I can probably imagine every other club in the league bar one would probably have wanted Chris Burke.
"It just shows the statement of intent from the chairman and the manager that that's the players we are looking to try and attract, that's the way we are heading."
County midfielder Ian McShane will miss the game against the Saints through suspension after being sent off against Hearts.
Forward Alex Schalk is once again sidelined with a knee injury, while recent signings Ryan Dow and Burke are both working on their fitness.
Tommy Wright believes his St Johnstone side will face opposition who have discovered their star appeal.
The Perth boss was impressed to see the Staggies landing former Rangers and Scotland winger Burke this week.
And he reckons that proves the strength of squad Jim McIntyre is building in Dingwall.
"They have a really good squad and it's never an easy place to go to," he told his club's website.
"They've had two great results, and their signing of Chris Burke this week shows the ambition they have got - and the players they're able to attract to the club.
"In the past they'd have perhaps found it difficult to attract quality players but now they are, and they aren't afraid to spend the wages which attracts quality to the club."
St Johnstone will have Chris Millar back in contention after the midfielder shook off a groin injury.
Striker Steven MacLean will also rejoin the Perth squad after sitting out last week's draw on Hamilton's plastic pitch. The veteran frontman has been advised by doctors not to play on artificial surfaces.
However, Richard Foster is unlikely to feature after picking up a thigh strain during last week's draw at New Douglas Park, while defenders Keith Watson (thigh) and Tam Scobbie (knee) remain on the sidelines.
