Irvine banned for County

Ross County midfielder Jackson Irvine is suspended for the crucial Scottish Premiership meeting with Partick Thistle.

Midfielders Rocco Quinn and Richard Brittain are working their way towards fitness following long-term injuries.

Abdoulaye Meite (foot) is 50-50 while defender Darren Barr (knee) remains on the sidelines.

County manager Jim McIntyre insists his side are "nowhere near safe" despite recent form in their battle to avoid a relegation play-off place.

County go into their home encounter against Thistle having won eight of their last nine matches - including five in a row at Dingwall.

Despite McIntyre's side playing three of their last five fixtures at home, and enjoying a six-point cushion over 11th-placed Motherwell, he has called on his players to continue their run to guarantee themselves safety.

He said: "We just want to try to continue on the good form and just keep picking up points. We're nowhere near safety.

"We just need to keep winning football matches and get away from that play-off spot."

Partick have James Craigen back from suspension while Christie Elliott is in contention after recovering from a broken hand.

Dan Seaborne and Sean Welsh remain on the sidelines with ankle injuries.

Full-back Callum Booth says he is not even considering a potential relegation play-off against parent club Hibernian.

Booth joined Thistle on loan in January until the end of the season, when his Easter Road contract runs out.

He was told at the time that his Hibs career was over but his employers are unlikely to want him facing them should both clubs be in the play-off final.

However, Booth has not even checked the contract situation as he looks to steer Thistle away from danger when they play Ross County in Dingwall on Saturday.

"I'm not sure the situation if Partick were to play Hibs but I'm not even thinking about that," Booth said.

"We have a not bad cushion and I'm just focusing on Partick Thistle and trying to get as many points as possible. We have been on a good run recently and the main thing is keeping that going.

"I won't be going back to Hibs. I'm the same as many footballers up and down the country with a bit of uncertainty with what's happening in the summer.

"You just work hard and try to keep performing as well as I can. When I first came here I had a few niggly injuries and was just getting used to things but after that I have really enjoyed it and we have been on a good run.

"We are trying to get over the line and things like that (contracts) will take care of themselves."
