Saunders set for spell out

Ross County defender Steven Saunders is set for a lengthy lay-off.

Saunders misses the Scottish Premiership visit of Kilmarnock with an ankle injury which could keep him out for an extended period, although he is waiting on the results of a scan.

Centre-back Scott Boyd has shrugged off the knock that forced him off against Partick Thistle in midweek.

County are looking for their first points of the season following a 2-1 home loss to St Johnstone and a 4-0 midweek defeat at Partick.

Manager Derek Adams said: "We lost scrappy goals and didn't take chances when they came along. For large spells we were controlling it up until half-time, and doing relatively well. We just have to dust ourselves down and get going for Saturday.

"Scott Fox had a magnificent save from Jake Jervis and Alan Mannus made two magnificent saves from Graham Carey last weekend and then let one through his legs on Wednesday.

"We're not getting a break in front of goal but the squad's looking good.

"It's very early in the season and we have changed our squad. It will take us a bit of time to gel and get going and when we do, we have always shown how good we can be."

New signing Michael Ngoo goes straight into Kilmarnock's squad.

The former Liverpool striker, 21, signed a two-year contract with the Rugby Park club following loan spells at Hearts, Yeovil and Walsall.

"It is good to be back in Scottish football and I'm looking forward to the future," the former England Under-20 said.

"It is a new chapter for me. I am looking to bring goals and compete for the league."
