Pride is at stake - McGovern

Michael McGovern insists Hamilton will be every bit as desperate as Ross County for victory in Dingwall on Saturday.

With two Scottish Premiership matches remaining Accies are safe from the threat of relegation in seventh place, five points ahead of Partick Thistle.

County, though, are embroiled in the battle to avoid the drop, sitting in 10th place, just three points ahead of Motherwell, who occupy the relegation play-off spot.

The Accies goalkeeper and captain, however, wants to continue the return to form of the Lanarkshire side - they are unbeaten in their last three matches after 13 games without a win - and take the final six points up for grabs.

"Everyone is saying Ross County are desperate for the points but we are desperate for the points," the 30-year-old told Press Association Sport.

"We have a lot to play for. We have professional pride.

"There will be an edge to this game so we have to match that.

"We beat them 1-0 up there earlier in the season. It was tight and they have improved since then.

"So it is a difficult task we face but we are looking forward to it.

"Hopefully we get two wins which means the finish to the season will have been good and will build momentum for next season."

While stressing that victory means as much to Accies as the Staggies, McGovern is glad that he does not have the worry of relegation.

The Northern Ireland international said: "I feel glad not to be involved in it.

"I wouldn't like to be down there scrapping and fighting.

"I have friends and former team-mates in each team. It is never nice to see anyone relegated.

"I am not enjoying it at all but you have to look after your own team and do your jobs and thankfully we have done that this season.

"It has been a really positive season overall. The period up to January was amazing. We were probably over achieving and then we had a dip and that lasted longer than we would have hoped.

"But over recent weeks things have started to pick up and we are hoping to finish with two wins."

Michael Devlin is out of the Hamilton squad. The Accies defender suffered knee ligament damage against Partick last week.

Player-manager Martin Canning could return to replace Devlin after leaving himself on the sidelines in recent weeks.

County winger Raffa De Vita is not concerned by his team's run of results and believes other relegation rivals should be far more worried about their Scottish Premiership status.

County got out of the bottom two by taking 25 points from a possible 27 but they remain in danger after picking up only one point from three games since the split.

Home losses to Partick Thistle and St Mirren and a draw at Motherwell have left them three points ahead of the Lanarkshire side and level with Kilmarnock ahead of their penultimate game against Hamilton.

But De Vita said: "We have not been playing badly. Saturday was a massive blow but it's still in our own hands. All we have to do is win a home game which is winnable and secure a place in the Premiership again for next year."

The former Livingston player, who has scored three goals in 11 games since joining from Cheltenham, added: "In the last few months the only game we didn't perform is the Partick game. Against Motherwell we went to a difficult place against a team in form and got a result.

"Saturday, we did enough to win four matches. They kicked a long ball up top and got a penalty and won the game.

"But the way I see it, there are other teams that need to be worried about the way they are playing, but not us."

Mark Brown and Scott Boyd are suspended for Ross County's Scottish Premiership

game against Hamilton.

Mark Brown and Scott Boyd are suspended for Ross County.

Defender Boyd received his sixth booking of the season against Motherwell and goalkeeper Brown was sent off in the closing stages of County's defeat by St Mirren.
