McIntyre rules out major changes

Ross County manager Jim McIntyre insists he will take no chances when his side face Ayr United on Tuesday night.

The Staggies thrashed Kilmarnock by four goals at the weekend but Dingwall boss McIntyre is not planning sweeping changes to his line-up ahead of the League Cup clash with the Honest Men.

While many of his Ladbrokes Premiership counterparts will see the early rounds of the cup contest as a chance to blood some of their fringe players, McIntyre insists he will only make changes if he believes the men coming in are good enough to get the job done at the Global Energy Stadium.

He said: "We will pick a team that we think can win the game. We have got strength in depth in the squad and as always we will pick a team that we think can go get a result.

"You could say the League Cup is a bit of a slow burner in the early rounds but that's the same with all cup competitions. It's the early rounds where you have to make sure you do a job and ensure you stay in the hat.

"It's so important that you are fully concentrated and give the team the respect they deserve.

"Ayr have had a couple of good result s recently and have started the season quite well. I know a few players having worked with them previously and I obviously know the manager Ian McCall really well. I know they will be well prepared and it will be a tough match."

Ayr head to Dingwall with doubts over Martyn Campbell and Peter Murphy.

Ross Docherty is available as the suspension for his dismissal in Saturday's 2-1 success over Stranraer is to be served in the league this weekend against Forfar.

Manager Ian McCall said: "We are heading from one end of the country to the other with confidence after our win however we know that we face a difficult task.

"We had County watched on Saturday in their 4-0 win at Kilmarnock and the report we have back on them is that some of their play was fantastic."
