Ciftci at the double
Dundee United climbed to second place in the Scottish Premiership after Nadir Ciftci struck twice in a 3-2 win over basement boys Ross County.
Jackie McNamara's visitors surged into a three-goal lead and had to fend off late pressure from the hosts, who, despite being down to 10 men in the late stages, threatened to snatch a draw.
Ciftci netted the 21st-minute opener and Stuart Armstrong doubled United's lead early in the second half.
A second from Ciftci in the 58th minute looked to have made the outcome certain, but home substitute Yoann Arquin pulled one back and, following the 84th-minute dismissal of Liam Boyce, Darren Maatsen grabbed a second for the hosts with a minute of regulation time to play.
United dug in to avoid conceding a third as they moved ahead of Inverness in the table, and just one point behind front-runners Celtic.
