More gloom for Doonhamers

Ross County extended their lead at the top of Scottish Division One to six points with two games in hand thanks to a 2-1 win over Queen of the South.

After a cagey opening period, County went ahead in the 23rd minute thanks to Iain Vigurs, who latched on to Michael Fraser's pass to volley home from the edge of the area.

The bottom side equalised in the 57th minute when Ryan McGuffie produced an exquisite volley from 15 yards which flew into the top corner.

But any hopes of an upset were dashed after 71 minutes when Stuart Kettlewell found Michael Gardyne, who calmly converted for his 10th goal of the season to secure a result which leaves the Doonhammers five points from safety.
