Three and easy for Partick Thistle as they move off the bottom

Partick Thistle moved off the foot of the table thanks to three goals in a dominant half-hour period in the second half as Ross County's six-match unbeaten run came to an end.

Liam Lindsay broke the deadlock shortly after the break with a powerful header and Kris Doolan doubled the lead with another header before Chris Erskine capped a fine display with a lovely finish.

Liam Boyce grabbed a late consolation for a disappointing home side who were soundly beaten 3-1.

County's Tim Chow had the first effort on goal in the fourth minute after a steady build up in the middle of the park but his shot flew just wide of Tomas Cerny's left-hand post.

County were having the better of the early exchanges and Christopher Routis fired in a long-range shot in the seventh minute which flashed past the upright.

Sean Welsh drifted into space and let fly at goal but his shot flew well over the County crossbar.

Erskine then sent over dangerous cross from the right but there were no takers.

After a promising start the match started to get bogged down in midfield with nothing in the way of goalmouth incidents.

County threatened momentarily in the 32nd minute when a Routis free kick was head flicked on by Boyce but the ball found its way tamely back to Cerny.

The visitors had their first effort on target five minutes later when a fierce drive from Erskine was parried by Scott Fox and the County keeper saved the Ryan Edwards header on the rebound.

Thistle were enjoying a good spell and Welsh headed a deep cross from Callum Booth past at the far post.

The home side made a positive start to the second half and Cerny had to race from his line to beat Dow to the ball on the edge of his box.

The Jags responded with a slick move down the right which ended with a Lawless shot being blocked by Andrew Davies. From Welsh's corner in the 50th minute Lindsay rose highest to power a header past Fox for the opener.

It got worse for County in the 63rd minute when Thistle doubled their lead. Booth got the ball into the County box at the second attempt and Doolan headed into the net at the near post.

Boyce should have pulled one back three minutes later when substitute Alex Schalk slipped the ball through to him but his shot was blocked by Cerny and the County forward blasted the rebound over.

But Thistle's tails were up now and Erskine flashed in a vicious left foot shot which Fox did well to take at the first attempt.

There was no way back in the 78th minute when Erskine picked the ball up inside the County box, evaded a couple of tackles and coolly slotted the ball into the corner of the net.

County did pull one back five minutes later when Boyce headed in a Marcus Fraser cross from close range but the Jags comfortably held for all three points.
