McStay leaves Ross County

Willie McStay has left his role as manager of Irn-Bru First Division side Ross County after failing to record a win in nine games in charge.

McStay was appointed boss in November after Derek Adams, who led the Dingwall side to the Scottish Cup final last season, joined Hibernian as assistant to Colin Calderwood.

But after failing to win in seven league games and two Scottish Cup clashes with last year's winners Dundee United, McStay left his position at Victoria Park by "mutual consent".

Following the 0-0 draw at home to bottom club Stirling Albion on Saturday, the club issued a statement on their official website which read: "The manager's departure follows a series of disappointing results in Ross County's First Division campaign.

"Club chairman Roy MacGregor and the manager discussed the situation following today's 0-0 draw with Stirling Albion and Mr McStay's departure was agreed by mutual consent.

"A recruitment process by the board to identify and appoint a new manager will begin straight away.

"In the meantime the club's director of football, George Adams, will assist with the running of first-team affairs."
