We deserved win - Hill

Keith Hill felt his Rochdale side "thoroughly deserved" a 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday which moved them to within a point of the play-off places. The win made it 10 games unbeaten for Dale, with the Owls falling to defeat in new boss Gary Megson`s first full game in charge. "It was a thoroughly deserved win and no one can argue with the result or the performance," said Hill. "We bashed them up in a footballing sense, in a physical sense and we beat them with honesty. "They have quality, but we can play and we can press. It was a very honest performance and the lads thoroughly deserved the three points. I was surprised the bookmakers had us as favourites going into the game, but we are in good form and that continues. Sheffield Wednesday were a big club but they are not a big club anymore. To get back to being a big club they`ve got to affect what they do in the future, as we did in this game by winning." The Owls were behind after 15 minutes. Fine work from Nicky Adams sent Scott Wiseman into the area on the right and his cross created a simple tap-in for Matt Done. Daniel Jones' foul on Done 12 minutes later handed Rochdale a penalty which was duly despatched by skipper Gary Jones. Owain Fon Williams got his fingertips to a fierce drive by Isaiah Osbourne late on but was powerless when Gary Madine headed home Lewis Buxton's cross in the 90th minute.
