Beardsley at the double for Boro

Chris Beardsley scored twice as Stevenage beat Rochdale 4-2 to claim their first home win in League One.

Top scorer Beardsley tapped in a Lawrie Wilson cross from close range for his third goal in five games to restore his side`s lead on the half-hour.

He added his second on the stroke of half-time with a 20-yard curler to make it 3-1.

Craig Reid - scoring for the second successive game - fired home from the edge of the area to put Stevenage ahead in the 13th minute but Gary Jones hauled Rochdale level in the 28th minute with a stunning strike from 20 yards - his side`s first away league goal this season.

Neal Trotman put through his own net 20 minutes from time after a mix-up with goalkeeper Jake Kean but moments later debutant David Ball - signed this week on a three-month loan from Peterborough - pulled another back for the visitors.
