Shaw's progress pleases Dale

Rochdale striker Jon Shaw has returned to training less than two weeks after picking up a hamstring strain.

The former Burton Albion forward missed the recent games against Wycombe Wanderers and Rotherham United, but may be able to feature in the Chesterfield match this weekend.

Dale's physio, Andy Thorpe, told the club's official website: "Jon's making good progress and joined in with training on Tuesday morning.

"He's running well in a straight line and it's just a case of checking that he's alright with the more explosive stuff.

"Providing he doesn't feel any reactions over the next couple of days he should be OK to join in fully as the week goes on."
