Season ends for Jones

Rochdale captain Gary Jones has been ruled out for the rest of the season after fracturing a bone in his knee during the recent victory against Torquay United.

The 29-year-old midfielder, who signed a new contract with the club earlier this month, will be a big loss to Dale in the closing weeks of the campaign, according to boss Keith Hill.

"Gary's an inspirational player and I was over the moon when he decided to sign his new contract," Hill told the club's official website.

"He's Captain Marvel, he leads by example every day of the week and we're all disappointed he'll be out until the end of the season.

"That said we know we'll have him for the start of next season and we have replacements in the squad, though we'll be looking to bring someone in on loan this week."
