Rochdale bag striker Shaw

Rochdale have swooped to sign striker Jon Shaw from Halifax Town for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old marksman has agreed a two-year contract at Spotland after scoring 20 goals for the struggling West Yorkshire club in the Blue Square Premier Division last season.

"This club didn't have to do a hard sell on me after the performances last year and them nearly getting promoted," he told the club's official website.

"They had a fantastic season and it is great for me to come to a club that is looking to get promotion to League One."

Shaw started his career with Sheffield Wednesday before joining the Shaymen last summer from Burton Albion.
