Rory McArdle ready to return for struggling Bantams

Bradford defender Rory McArdle is expected to return to the starting line-up at Rochdale after missing last week's defeat at Colchester due to a stomach upset.

Christopher Routis stepped in for McArdle, who will be monitored by boss Phil Parkinson, as the Bantams look to avoid a third straight league defeat.

Defender Tony McMahon and midfielder Billy Knott both returned to the first XI last week, with Gary Liddle dropping to the bench and Paul Anderson ruled out for up to seven months after breaking his leg.

Filipe Morais and Billy Clarke both remain sidelined with long-term knee injuries, while midfielder Mark Marshall and striker Luke James are among those pushing for recalls.

Rochdale manager Keith Hill must decide whether to stick with the same team that started in the midweek home win against Shrewsbury.

Hill made three changes following last week's defeat at Millwall, recalling midfielders Joe Rafferty and Donal McDermott, plus striker Calvin Andrew in place of Matty Lund, Michael Rose and Joe Bunney.

The Dale boss has no new injury or suspension worries and will not want to make too many changes as his side chases a fourth straight home win.

Midfielders Lund and Bunney stepped off the bench against Shrewsbury and, along with Ashley Eastham and Reuben Noble-Lazarus, are pushing for recalls.
