Dale remain on promotion course

Rochdale's pursuit of an automatic promotion place continued apace with a 2-1 win over Morecambe at Spotland.

Goals from Scott Hogan and Ian Henderson proved enough to see off the visitors, who briefly led through Jack Redshaw.

The former Rochdale striker had struck the first blow in the 32nd minute. Robbie Threlfall's ball over the top of the Rochdale defence held up in the swirling wind around Spotland and dropped kindly for Andrew Wright on the left side of the area. He in turn picked out Redshaw, who converted from six yards.

The home side were level within two minutes, though. Morecambe defender Andy Parrish looked favourite to collect Matt Done's ball from deep in the Rochdale half, but striker Hogan - fresh from a hat-trick at Wimbledon last time out - had other ideas. He muscled Parrish off the ball then ghosted past Mark Hughes before slamming a firm finish into the roof of Barry Roche's net.

And the home claimed the spoils in the 73rd minute when Henderson raced through the centre before exchanging passes with Done on the edge of the area and firing a low drive past Roche.
