Millers reject Dale's pitch criticism

Rotherham ran out 2-1 winners but the real talking point came when Dale boss Keith Hill blasted the playing surface which struggled to cope after rock band U2 had played on it on Thursday night. But the Millers have responded by saying in a statement: "The pitch was deemed playable by the referee and he was happy for the game to go-ahead. "Following the U2 concert our Ground staff in conjunction with Don Valley Stadium worked around the clock to ensure that the playing surface was in an acceptable condition to play on. After the referee looked at the surface he was happy for the game to take place."
