Kennedy on the spot for Dale

The home side started brightly but received a blow after just 15 minutes when Nathan Stanton received a red card for fouling Marvin Morgan as the striker bore down on Kenny Arthur's goal. It was a straightforward decision for referee Phil Gibbs who pulled out the red card.[LNB]Stanton's dismissal saw the momentum swing towards the visitors and they went close with a header from Morgan and a curling shot from John Halls.[LNB]Rochdale recovered and created the best chance of the first half when skipper Gary Jones raced forward and released Chris Dagnall. The striker fired wide of Shots' goalkeeper Mikhael Jaimez-Ruiz but the wrong side of the upright.[LNB]Both sides had chances in an entertaining second half. Arthur saved well from Kirk Hudson while Will Buckley's goalbound effort was cleared off the line by Louis Soares and Dagnall saw a shot saved by Jaimez-Ruiz.[LNB]Late on, Jason Kennedy cleared Halls' effort off the line but with three minutes of injury-time played Dale were awarded a spot-kick when Adam Hinshelwood was adjudged to have handled Dagnall's shot and Kennedy slammed home the penalty to win it for the home side.[LNB][LNB]
