Hill questions Buckley exit

Rochdale boss Keith Hill has questioned his club's decision to allow Will Buckley to leave Spotland to join Watford in the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old's move to Vicarage Road could eventually net Dale £300,000, but Hill remains unimpressed.

He told the Rochdale Observer: "Selling Will was totally against my wishes - it was the board's decision.

"I was prepared to see Will go at the end of the season - it would have been a consequence of how well we'd done this year. But I felt we should have kept him until the summer.

"Considering the great position we have put ourselves in, I felt we could and should have kept Will for the rest of the season."

With Buckley moving out, Hill drafted in Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Frank Fielding, Hull City midfielder Will Atkinson and Swindon Town striker Temitope Obadeyi on loan to bolster his squad.
