Hill adds youngster to squad

Rochdale manager Keith Hill has strengthened his squad with Bolton Wanderers' Chris Basham joining on a three month loan.

The 19-year-old joins the Spotland outfit and is expected to go straight into the squad for Saturday's game against Lincoln City.

After being released by Newcastle United, he was spotted playing for Durham City by Bolton scouts who invited him for a trial.

He impressed enough to be offered a two year deal.

Hill said: "He is utility player who prefers to be in central midfield. He is a player that we have watched for a long time and one that we admire.

"He is 19 and comes from good stock. He has been given a long term contract at Bolton and they believe in him. He has possibly gone a little stale in the reserves and may need a new motivation.

"It adds to the competition for places and I am sure that he will live up to challenge."
