Hill: Pitch was a farce

Rochdale manager Keith Hill gave full support to referee Tony Bates after he abandoned the game against Oldham. The Spotland clash lasted only eight minutes with the scoreline goalless before Bates deemed the pitch unplayable after incessant rain. "Of course it was the right decision," he told his club`s official website. "You don`t want to be judged on a game that could have gone either way simply down to the conditions of the pitch. "The referee said it was just becoming a farce and he needed to protect the players and there is no question about it, he made the right decision."
