Hill joy at Dale success

Rochdale boss Keith Hill was delighted with his side's performance as they moved into the play-off positions after a 2-0 win against automatic promotion hopefuls Southampton at Spotland. Joe Thompson's header midway through the first half and a Chris O'Grady shot four minutes before the break secured Dale victory. Hill said: "It was probably the best evening we've had at Spotland during my time in charge, and it's backed up by the fact this result gives us an unbelievable double over Southampton. "That makes it extra special and I cannot applaud the lads enough, they just keep raising the bar. "They don't want the season to end, and you could see that in the manner of their performance and the effort levels. We had to have that on the night, we had to work harder than the opposition and we did. "Southampton's team is full of Championship and possibly Premier League players and we really deserved the win. I'm pleased with the players and where we are in the league, it's superb."
