Hill happy to grind out win

Rochdale manager Keith Hill praised his team's bravery in bouncing back from a poor run of results as they won 1-0 against Notts County. Craig Dawson headed the only goal of the game to return Dale to winning ways at Spotland. Three successive defeats had seen Hill's men slip out of the play-off reckoning, but the narrow win over the Magpies at least halted their slide down the table. "It was an ugly game, but it can only be ugly on our pitch because we have decided we can't play the way we want to play on that surface," said Hill. "We will save that for Plymouth on Saturday because their pitch is an absolute bowling green. "I'm pleased with the bravery, the result and also the supporters who tried to generate a bit of an atmosphere for once. "We've taken advantage of one of our games in hand and it takes us closer to where we want to be points-wise. We just want to get as many points as we can now. We suffered in the last three games but picked up three points here from what was an ugly game."
