Chris Dagnall gave Dale an early lead when he turned in Chris O'Grady's cross in the ninth minute.

Three second-half goals allowed Dale to romp to an emphatic victory with 13 games remaining.

Hill said: "Someone said to me after the match that it was a real top-of-the-table team performance, and I agree with that.

"It was a truly class performance built on hard work and endeavour.

"It was a very fair, competitive match in the first half and then we took control after the break and the quality shone through. We were pleased to score four and keep our second consecutive clean sheet."
